Trump Spox Jason Miller Derides Robert De Niro as ‘Washed Up’ — Despite His Oscar Nomination This Year

Following the aftermath of Tuesday’s press conference by the Biden-Harris campaign, which featured actor Robert De Niro being heckled by supporters of former President Donald Trump, the Trump camp was moved to issue a response, so they unleashed Trump spokesman Jason Miller.

Miller’s primary attack was on the state of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, and he focused heavily on the Politico report that Democrats were having a “freakout” over the current state of the campaign. But after the chaotic press conference with De Niro, who has thrown his full support behind the Biden-Harris campaign, Miller had a new target: an Oscar-winning actor.

His choice of fighting words, however, for De Niro were pretty nonsensical:

Why is Joe Biden now making this a campaign event after months of weaponizing the legal system against President Trump? Because Joe Biden’s numbers are in the tank. The headline for today in Politico very simply said “Dems in freakout over Joe Biden.” Joe Biden is losing nationally, he’s losing in every single battleground state, and President Trump’s numbers continue to rise.

And the best that Biden can do is roll out a washed-up actor — and don’t worry, my remarks will be shorter than The Irishman, I won’t make you suffer for three hours — but the best they can do is roll out a washed-up actor. Last week, President Trump spoke in the Bronx. Right? Over 25,000 people show up to rally around him, and the best the Biden campaign could do was put out a web video with Robert De Niro. There is nothing behind the Biden campaign. Their numbers are in the toilet. Kamala Harris is a terrible alternative, and it’s all an attempt to try to turn around the Biden campaign.

Robert De Niro is generally regarded as one of the greatest actors of the modern era, and he has been nominated for nine Academy Awards and won two of them (for The Godfather and Raging Bull), and his most recent nomination was just this year, for Killers of the Flower Moon. He has so many awards and nominations that there is a separate Wikipedia page just for his awards and nominations. He is also starring in the upcoming Netflix series Zero Day, alongside several A-list actors including Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Kaplan, and Connie Britton, none of whom have ever been referred to as “washed-up.”
