WaPo Reporter: Palin Doesn’t Know Where She Fits in GOP
Over the weekend, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared at an Iowa event where she endorsed Hawkeye state Sen. Joni Ernst in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. In an appearance on MSNBC with host Ronan Farrow, The Washington Post’s political reporter Robert Costa said that it was apparent that Palin’s ability to influence Republican politics has waned significantly in recent months. He added that it is apparent that even Palin does not know where she belongs in the GOP anymore.
Farrow quoted from Costa’s report which he called “depressing” because it indicated that the crowed that turned out to see Palin was thinner than it was in past years. “Palin is today a diminished figure in the Republican Party,” Costa wrote.

“Though she has a lot of fans, and she does have some support, you’re seeing a lot of the conservative base in the Republican Party looking to new stars,” Costa said.
Asked if Palin could make a comeback, Costa said he was not sure. “I’m just not so sure about where Palin wants to go,” he said. “I’m not so sure she knows exactly where she fits right now within the Republican Party.”
