WATCH: Camp Mystic Flood Survivor Sings Heartwrenching Version of ‘Hallelujah’ On Fox News

Twelve-year-old Skyler Derrington, a survivor of the devastating floods at Camp Mystic, sang a heartwrenching rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ on Fox and Friends on Tuesday, re-writting the lyrics to depict the catastrophe.

Skyler, who went viral for her version of the Leonard Cohen classic, told Fox she “wrote it in honor of the girls at our camp– for those we lost to honor them and remember that god has a plan for all of us.”

“It was very emotional and healing, it was like song therapy, it was getting it all out. We had a sad day, and it felt like a beautiful release, and it was a beautiful tribute,” said Skyler’s mother, Lacy, who helped her write the lyrics.

A reported 135 people were killed in the flooding that rocked the state of Texas almost a month ago. At least 27 campers and staff at Camp Mystic were among those who died.

Read Skyler’s lyrics below:

I heard there was a giant flood

But we were washed in Jesus blood

And you don’t really care for my news do ya?

On July the 4, 2025,

The water rose and we went adrift

The baffled king composing hallelujah.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

Our faith was strong you showed us love,

Like only god from up above,

Your prayers, your hugs and your love overwhelmed us.

We cried, we prayed, we did our share.

You clothed us, fed us, brushed our hair

And from our lips, we drew the hallelujah.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

They say the water overcame,

but I will never forget their names,

no blame, no fault, so really what’s it to you.

We are a part of mystic heart

We spread his light, his love, his word,

The holy and the broken hallelujah,

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

We did our best, we left a mark,

A light that shines within the dark,

I told his truth, I didn’t come to fool you.

And even though it wasn’t long,

We stand before the lord of songs

With nothing on our tongue with hallelujah.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

Skyler, who dreams of becoming a Christian singer, later met her favorite artist, Lauren Daigle, live on set.
