WATCH: Ex-National Enquirer Editor Suggests Jared and Ivanka Were Involved in ‘Criminal Activity’
Former National Enquirer editor Jerry George is suggesting that President Donald Trump‘s children have secretly been involved in actions that could amount to “criminal activity.”
In light of the recent bombshells surrounding the Enquirer and Michael Cohen, George has been making the media rounds, discussing how his old boss, David Pecker, frequently gave Trump editorial control over the tabloid.
“[Pecker] sold his editorial soul for access to Trumpworld,” George said. “And in doing so, he got closer to the real power of the campaign.”
George claimed that Pecker used his relationship with Trump to collect “bargaining chips” about the president’s associates and Jared Kushner.
“David got close to the Trump pals, including Saudi money and Jared Kushner‘s banking friends. So he ultimately gathered some bargaining chips that he planned to use in time to get something he needed.”
This prompted MSNBC host Ari Melber to ask if there was a criminal element in Trump’s dirty laundry as opposed to just being “merely embarrassing.”
“Well, actually both,” George answered. “They’re certainly embarrassing, and then, when you get involved with the actions of his children, including his daughter and son-in-law, we’re getting closer to criminal activity.”
George went on to say American Media, the Enquirer‘s parent company, worked with Trump to break campaign finance laws, and he suggested “there is another shoe to drop” on this matter.
As the conversation turned to whether Kushner was involved in Trump’s hush money scheme, George recalled a “particularly curious” edition of the Enquirer whose cover depicted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
“So you’re talking about your belief there may be some other financial incentive for some of that coverage?” Melber asked.
“I certainly do,” George replied. He couldn’t provide proof to back up that assertion when Melber asked, but remarked that the whole thing “just smells fishy.”
