WATCH: Morning Joe Segment Inspires Trump Truth Social Tirade

A Wednesday Morning Joe segment appears to have inspired an early Truth Social tirade from President Donald Trump.

On MSNBC, Willie Geist and Jonathan Lemire previewed Trump’s upcoming meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin:

GEIST: So, Jonathan Lemire, as we mentioned, you’ve done a bunch of reporting around this summit. We did hear from the White House press secretary, sort of a tempering of expectations about what may come out of this. But just the very fact that the President of the United States is granting a face-to-face meeting with President Putin on American soil at that base in Alaska, by definition, it’s not a low-stakes, low-key meeting as the White House is now trying to pitch it.

LEMIRE: No, and I spoke to one of Trump’s former national security advisers, John Bolton, who says Putin’s already won. Just getting this meeting at all is such a victory for Putin to be readmitted into the sort of international community that he’s getting a one-on-one summit with the President of the United States. You know, he had one with President Biden back in Geneva in 2021, and then of course infamously with Trump back in Helsinki 3 years prior to that. I think some Europeans are heartened that the White House is trying to the temperature down a little bit on this meeting. That there won’t be necessarily a deal struck there in Alaska about Ukraine. The Europeans and [Volodymyr] Zelensky himself will be on a conference call with Trump today. You’re trying to push him again to be tough with Putin.

But of course, one never knows what will happen in that room when it’s just the two of them. It’s just going to be a very brief summit, a couple hours, the two of them, perhaps small staffs, their interpreters, it’s all being thrown together so quickly that, to the point made earlier, usually these things take weeks, if not months to plan. This one’s just a matter of days. And there is concern that Trump, even if he doesn’t strike a deal, that he might come out of there as he’s done in the past when he’s either met with Putin or even spoken to Putin, he often comes out with a pretty pro-Russia vantage point for a while. Will he do that again? Will he turn on Zelensky again? It was noted that for the first time in months earlier this week, Trump had some pretty harsh words for Zelensky, that could be something that continues going forward. And there’s a lot of concern as to what might happen.

Approximately 30 minutes later, Trump wrote the following on Truth Social:

Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin. Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, “Putin has already won.” What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING. The Fake News is working overtime (No tax on overtime!). If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal! But now they’ve been caught. Look at all of the real news that’s coming out about their CORRUPTION. They are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our Country. But it doesn’t matter because we are winning on everything!!!
