Watch the Fox News Interview With Dem Governor That Made Trump Flip Out
Former President Donald Trump fumed at Fox News, yet again, for daring to put a Democrat on air to discuss what is going on inside the Democratic Party.
“Why did Fox News put up Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, where I am leading? They make me fight battles that I shouldn’t have to fight!” Trump fumed on his Truth Social after Walz appeared on Fox’s America’s Newsroom midday Tuesday.
On Monday, Trump also attacked Fox News for interviewing Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) about President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Of course, it’s a common practice across the media, partisan or not, to solicit prominent voices within a political party to pull back the curtain and discuss internal machinations.
“Thanks for being here right now. Question for you. You can see it all over the New York Times, the opinion pieces there. Did the Democrats move too quickly, governor?” asked anchor Bill Hemmer to start off the interview with Walz, whose state was last won by a Republican in 1972 by Richard Nixon.
“No. Well, thanks for having me. I appreciate it. No, look, the process is what it is. It’s been this way for years. Anybody who wants to run can do that. You just need to secure your 300 delegates and go forward. I think what you’re seeing is, is that we understand that the Biden-Harris administration delivered,” Walz replied.
Anchor Dana Perino followed up, asking, “What you said about the record of the Biden-Harris administration if you look at this head-to-head poll from the Hill and Emerson, 45-45 Biden-Trump. So, I mean, Biden won pretty handily in 2020. So apparently the voters of Minnesota might like to have a different choice this year?”
Walz replied, “Well, certainly at this point in time, it’s people are starting to get engaged. They’re going to see we’ll start prosecuting the case that during the Trump administration, we were, you know, folks were dying because of Covid being unaddressed. We understand health care with Mayo Clinic there. And we also understand that the economy was frozen. We’re creating more jobs than we ever have. We’re now a top five state for business. We’re seeing all kinds of new economic start up, especially around health care and clean energy. So we’ll get the opportunity. And look, as of Sunday, it’s a new race. Our candidate is now decades younger. Our candidate is able to go out there and make this case.”
Hemmer then played a clip of VP candidate JD Vance hammering the Democrats and asked, “Is there a certain irony to saying that Donald Trump is bad for democracy? When it looks pretty obvious that the Democratic Party leapfrogged the entire democratic system, and they did it in about 24 hours publicly.”
Walz hit back, “Look, the process has always been there. I welcome if Sean or anybody wants to become a DNC delegate, you’re welcome to. But what I know is Democrats are ready to move when the situation warrants it. Look, it doesn’t matter convictions. It doesn’t matter failed policies. Republican party stuck with Donald Trump. He’s yours. You’ve got him. Welcome to it. Democratic party can make our decisions. We pick our nominee. Look, if you don’t like it, don’t vote for it November. But I think the American public are going to say they knew that this administration was delivering. We knew that as far as economic numbers based against global numbers, America is in a far better shape. And we also know that a foreign policy that respects our alliances, not cozying up to dictators like Putin and Orban is not the way to go.”
“So, you know, JD Vance, mind your own mind your own business is what I would tell them,” Walz added before being asked about being on Kamala Harris’s shortlist for her possible VP pick.
“Look, I spoke with the vice president. I’m not going to get into exactly what we spoke about, but we have the same values. We believe we can win in the Midwest. I think what I’m most proud of is if you look at those folks you put up there, they’re Democratic governors. That’s because Democratic states are creating jobs, Democratic states are welcoming. Democratic states are protecting those personal freedoms, those things like reproductive rights, your ability to be able to marry who you wish to marry, those types of things that are basic American values. And so my case on that is, I will do whatever is necessary to make sure that those values are front and center,” Walz replied.
