WATCH: Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Spare No One In Hilarious Golden Globe Awards Opening
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opened the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards with some classic Hollywood banter and plenty of jokes at the nominees’ expense.
But the hosts wanted to make sure everyone knew they would not be as offensive as the host from the previous three years. “Ricky Gervais could not be here tonight because he’s technically not in show business anymore.”
They saved plenty of love for their fellow women, with some of the loudest cheers coming after Poehler’s joke about Kathryn Bigelow: “I haven’t really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.”
In reference to Julianne Moore, nominated for playing Sarah Palin in Game Change, Fey tried to do her famous Palin impression, but only came up with a couple of strained attempts at “You betcha.”
