Secretary of Energy Rick Perry addressed reporters for Tuesday’s White House press briefing, delivering a whimsical and lighthearted performance running more than thirty minutes.
White House reporters, who have become accustomed to an adversarial relationship in briefings between an irate and evasive Sean Spicer and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, were treated to the former Governor’s jovial briefing, in which he joked with reporters and doled out compliments.
And the press corps took note, with some even calling for Perry to take the job of press secretary:
Rick Perry, official from another planet, charmingly tells the press, “why don’t you all get two questions!”

Perry was apparently having so much fun, that he ran over his allotted time, answering off-topic questions:
Rick Perry said he was going to leave like five questions ago but he’s still here

Perry: “I wasn’t going to talk about anything other than energy, but you’ve touched on one of my favorite subjects. And that’s federalism.”

Rick Perry is holding onto the sides of the podium like he doesn’t want to leave but Sarah Huckabee is trying to herd him away.

Sanders eventually ushered Perry off the podium, and delivered her statements. She is filling in for Spicer, who couldn’t make it to the briefing.
