‘You Should Be Ashamed!’: CNN Panel Ignites Over Bannon Hire
A CNN panel tonight got pretty heated over Donald Trump choosing Steve Bannon to be chief strategist in the White House.
Van Jones said it sends a message who the president appoints, while Kayleigh McEnany argued that the Bannon hire illustrates Trump’s desire not to be surrounded by Washington insiders.
Jonathan Tasini shot back by saying the media “can’t normalize racism and anti-Semitism,” while Jones pointed out that the right would freak out if someone similar, only on the left, was chosen for a Democratic administration.
McEnany scolded them for calling Bannon a racist and called out Jones for “legitimizing” the idea that Trump wants internment camps.
Jones recalled the segment in question and said he did no such thing, telling McEnany, “I really hope you’ll apologize to me.”
“For you to take something I was trying to share with you and our fellow panelists about the level of fear and make it seem like I’m being irresponsible,” he said, “I think it’s horribly unfair.”
She went back and forth with Jones over this before Tasini said that Bannon’s “a racist and an anti-Semite” and told McEnany, “You should be ashamed of yourself that you’re justifying what [Bannon’s] about.”
