BREAKING: Elon Musk Has Officially Struck a Deal to Purchase Twitter

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is set to add another business to his portfolio as the Board of Directors of Twitter has agreed to his offer to purchase the massive social media platform.

The news was announced in a press release Monday afternoon.

Musk has long been a vocal advocate of free speech and effectively called out what he saw as operational and governance incompetence of the Twitter board in making his offer. While conservative media have lauded his free speech advocacy, many on the left have openly expressed concern over might be a lack of moderation under his ownership.

In an interview with Reliable Sources Daily, New York Times contributor Kara Swisher poured serious cold water on both sides of the political aisle over their hopes and concerns over a Musk-owned Twitter. Swisher said:

I don’t even know what Elon’s politics are. He’s been negative about Trump to me many times. But he also doesn’t like Biden. And he might like parts of Trump and he might like parts of Biden, I don’t think he likes Biden because… he never mentions Tesla when he’s talking about electric cars, which I think is kind of ridiculous on Biden’s part but that’s another issue.

You never know where he’s going to stand. He attacks Elizabeth Warren, he likes other people… I think he’s more libertarian, is what it is. I think when the right sort of embraces him I’m like, Oh I don’t think he likes you that much either.

I think he sort of goes where he feels like, he definitely is a… free speech absolutist, where he thinks everything should roll, but the minute he gets ahold of Twitter if’s a different story because, if he’s responsible for something for terrible happening, he’s going to have a different point of view running it. It’s harder when you’re holding the basket to say, let everything fly.
