After Hunter Biden’s surprise appearance in front of the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold him in contempt of Congress.

In a party line vote 23-14, the House Judiciary Committee approved the resolution to hold the son of President Joe Biden in contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena to testify in a closed-door deposition.

Hunter Biden has repeatedly stated himself and through his legal team that he is willing to testify in public, in front of Congress. He said so today as he left the hearing room where the Oversight Committee hearing was taking place. Biden was given the choice to testify either in public or in a private deposition by House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), a fact that was brought up several times by his fellow committee member Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL).

The approval of the resolution means the full House of Representatives will get to vote to hold the younger Biden in contempt. Should the resolution pass after a full vote, it will head to the Department of Justice where Attorney General Merrick Garland will decide if Hunter Biden should be indicted on contempt of Congress charges.

Biden’s unexpected appearance caused chaos on Capitol Hill, and it served as a PR stunt for the embattled recovering drug addict who faces other indictments on tax and gun charges.

This story is breaking and will be updated.
