‘China’s Favorite Governor’: Nancy Mace Stabs Nikki Haley in Back After Previously Praising Her as a ‘Great Leader for Our Nation’

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) derided former South Carolina Governor and Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley as “China’s favorite governor” at an event for former President Donald Trump despite having praised her as a “rock star’ after Haley endorsed and campaigned for Mace after Trump backed a primary challenger against her.

“Nikki Haley is China’s favorite governor,” declared Mace at the event for Trump in South Carolina. “And in fact, if she had her way, South Carolina would be manufacturing spy balloons right here in our state.”

What a difference a few years can make.

Mace endorsed Trump earlier this month despite the fact that he backed a nearly successful primary challenger to her back in 2022 over her criticism of his actions before and during the January 6 Capitol riot. At the time, Trump called Mace “crazy” and “a terrible person.”

Haley stood up to Trump and for Mace during that cycle, endorsing the latter and calling her “a fighter who stands up to Biden’s reckless spending, punches back against lawless lockdowns and mandates, & is strong on border security.”

The former governor and ambassador even recorded an ad for Mace, applauding the congresswoman as “tough as nails.”

Mace returned the praise, calling her a “rock star” and “great leader for our nation.”

“I also want to thank former South Carolina Governor and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. She is a rock star, and she’s been on the campaign trail with us the last couple of days,” said Mace in 2022. “She’s become a good friend, a good mentor, she’s a great leader, she lives right here in the lowcountry, she’s been a great leader for the state of South Carolina, she’s been a great leader for our nation. And I have to tell you, the very last debate we ever had in this election, I was texting and calling and trying to get some advice, and I texted her. I didn’t realize she was on the other side of the world, 14 hours ahead of time, and she responded in five minutes.”

“I wish that everybody could see our texts, t see that stream and just see how hard she works. She’s a great example for me, for my daughter, for everybody in the room today. And  Nikki, I just want to say thank you,” she concluded.
