Conservative critics found satisfaction in the ratings flop that took place at Sunday’s Oscars ceremony.

Hollywood suffered from a dearth of movies during the Covid-19 pandemic, but Hollywood denizens nonetheless took the stage to engage in the annual soirée of self-congratulations. An average of 9.85 million viewers tuned in for it, according to early Nielsen ratings, 13.75 million fewer — or 58.3 percent less — than in 2020.

Observers took note, including Megyn Kelly, who wrote on Twitter, “How’s all that incessant, insufferable woke, depressing lecturing via film, interviews, social media & at the actual, awful awards show going, Hollywood?”

Others critics included Piers Morgan, Sean Spicer, and Liz Peek.
