DeSantis Slams Business Leaders, Including Elon Musk, for ‘Groveling’ Before Xi Jinping

Florida governor and GOP presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis, slammed U.S. business leaders for “groveling” before Chinese dictator Xi Jinping at a dinner earlier in the week, accusing them of “bend[ing] the knee to the whims of the Chinese Communist Party.”

A collection of those executives, including Tesla/X’s Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, and BlackRock’s Larry Fink forked over between $2,000 and 40,000 to attend the dinner, where they offered the genocidal leader a standing ovation.

DeSantis condemned those leaders for “empowering an adversary” in a video shared by his campaign account:

And you know I look to see what’s going on, what went on in San Francisco the last couple days. You know, the city is in squalor, there’s poop on the streets, there’s people using drugs, people getting mugged, crime, all this stuff. But then Xi Jinping’s coming to town and what do they do? They get the poop off the sidewalk, they get the, clear the homeless, they stop the drugs, they stop the crime. And then, you have this meeting where Xi’s there, you got some of these American CEOs basically just groveling in front of this dictator. And that just shows you, even with where we are now, and China wants to have more power over our country, but how many people in this country bend the knee to the whims of the Chinese Communist Party. Those guys make money on Wall Street and stuff, but they’re empowering an adversary at the expense of the well-being of the American people. So we cannot be in a position where we’re relying on an adversary for key things that are necessary for our national survival. So we are going to re-shore supply chains. Not everything,  every component has to necessarily be here. I want as much as possible, but there’s friendly nations where supply chains work and that’s great. But relying on China is a big, big mistake.

Musk, who was featured at the DeSantis campaign’s launch event, posted a picture of himself shaking hands with Xi at the dinner on X with the caption “may there be prosperity for all.”
