MAGA Lawmaker Drops Receipts in Feud Over Mike Johnson’s Opposition to Her Proxy Vote Bill: ‘Let’s Play Fu*king Hardball!’

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), a Trump-aligned firebrand, slammed House Speaker Mike Johnson over his opposition to a bipartisan bill allowing proxy voting for new parents armed with receipts in a profanity-laced clapback.

The bill, authored by Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) and co-sponsored by Luna, Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA), and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), would allow proxy voting for new parents for up to 12 weeks — before and after childbirth, if needed.

Johnson, however, in a closed-door meeting, reportedly urged Republicans to steer clear, insisting it was “unconstitutional.”

On Tuesday, Luna defended her bill and attacked Johnson’s stance as “wrong” while dropping proof that he had used proxy voting in the past, albeit back during the pandemic.

“Here are some documents showing him voting by proxy in the 117th Congress, as late as December 2022!” Luna posted on X, adding: “Since the case is being made to the public via press, I’m going to do the same.”

Luna went further, telling reporters at the Capitol that she’s ready to grind the House to a halt unless Johnson relents: “If people want to do that, then, you know, you have a two-seat majority, so good luck passing anything. If they want to play hardball, let’s play fucking hardball.”

The very public skirmish from the right of the party has implications for Johnson, not just for parental leave and representation, as he continues to try to project his gravitas and control. Luna, meanwhile, seems more than happy to fight that battle in the open.
