A Kansas motorcyclist was left stunned this week as he spotted a strange black ring in the sky — but science may have an explanation.

Frankie Camren couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted the mysterious ring while riding, and decided to pull over and record it.

He later posted the clip to Facebook.

“So can somebody tell me what the … is this?” Camren says in the video. “And I’m not using no app. I am on County Road 2 between State Ave. and K32 and I have never seen anything like that in my life.”

“I’m not kidding here,” he added. “This is real.”

The ring quickly started to vanish during Camren’s commentary.

Many similar phenomena have turned up over the years, including in Seattle, Connecticut and Kazkakhstan.

So what was it?

Fox Weather meteorologists had a look at the clip and determined it is most likely some sort of explosion. That finding falls In line with an NBC News report from 10 years ago that blamed fireworks and a transformer blast as the likely culprits.
