Putin Just Joking About Liking Kamala Harris’s Policies and ‘Infectious Laugh’ Foreign Minister Assures Sky News Arabia

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov revealed that President Vladimir Putin was only joking when he endorsed Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.
Earlier this month, Putin spoke to the public at an economic forum in Russia where he claimed Russia backed Harris in the November race, citing her “infectious laugh.” Putin also said he believe Harris will remove sanctions imposed on them during the Ukraine war.
“I told you, our favorite, if I may say so, was the current president, Mr. Biden,” Putin said while smiling. “He was removed from the race, but he advised all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. So we will do it as well, we will root for her,” he said, to applause from the audience.
“Secondly, she has such an expressive and infectious laugh that it means she is doing well,” Putin added.
However, Lavrov clarified in a Friday interview with Sky News Arabia that Putin’s remarks showcased his “good sense of humor.” Previously, Putin has suggested he would support Biden over Trump because he was a more “predictable” candidate.
“I see no long-term differences in our attitude to the current or previous elections in the United States, because it is ruled by the notorious ‘deep state,’” Lavrov concluded.
Following the fake endorsement, the Harris campaign issued a statement rejecting the support of the Russian president by referring to him as a dictator.
“I think everybody knows who dictators and bullies around the world prefer in this election: they prefer President Trump,” said Harris spokesperson Ian Sams to CNN. “We reject the kind of divisive, dictatorial leadership being offered from people like President Putin. Putin’s invasion into Ukraine was horrible and the VPOTUS has been a leader along with POTUS in rallying the world against it.”
