Trump Baselessly Claims Harris Campaign Was ‘ILLEGALLY SPYING’ on Him Following Report of Iran Hack
Former President Donald Trump accused Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris of “ILLEGALLY SPYING” on his campaign and asked whether she would “RESIGN IN DISGRACE” so that the “COMMUNIST LEFT” could pick a new nominee.
The FBI confirmed on Wednesday that Iranian hackers, who infiltrated the Trump campaign’s systems on August 12, sought to interest then-Democratic nominee President Joe Biden in unsolicited emails containing stolen Trump campaign documents to interfere in the 2024 election. The emails were reportedly received by several people associated with Biden’s campaign.
Still, Trump found the findings of the investigation an opportunity to attack his political rivals, even ironically, and blasted the Democrats of spying on his campaign. Late Wednesday, he unleashed on his social media network TruthSocial:
WOW, JUST OUT! THE FBI CAUGHT IRAN SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN, AND GIVING ALL OF THE INFORMATION TO THE KAMALA HARRIS CAMPAIGN. THEREFORE SHE AND HER CAMPAIGN WERE ILLEGALLY SPYING ON ME. TO BE KNOWN AS THE IRAN, IRAN, IRAN CASE! WILL KAMALA RESIGN IN DISGRACE FROM POLITICS? WILL THE COMMUNIST LEFT PICK A NEW CANDIDATE TO REPLACE HER?
In a follow-up press release, Trump Campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called on the Biden administration and the Harris campaign to “come clean” about whether they’d used the hacked materials to “hurt” Trump.
“What did they know and when did they know it?” she asked.
However, FBI officials stated in their report that there is no indication that anyone from the Biden team responded. Harris’s campaign said it dismissed the emails as “unwelcome and unacceptable malicious activity,” treating them as potential spam.
