Trump Blames ‘Show Business’ for Hurting Reputations of Dr. Oz and Jeanine Pirro
President Donald Trump may hire only the “best people” — but perhaps not the most reputable — and he says TV is to blame.
As Trump talked up his latest executive order on prescription drug prices during a speech from the White House on Monday, he introduced his Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Director Dr. Mehmet Oz as a friend and “amazing guy.”
But in an odd turn, Trump added that the doctor’s reputation has been sullied because of his “very successful” TV show, which ran from 2009 to 2022.
“I was telling Bobby [Kennedy Jr.] before; Oz, very successful show, but hurt his reputation. When you’re in show business, it hurts your reputation a little bit.”
He then likened the situation to that of his new D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.
“I compare that to — and I hate to say this — but a special woman, Jeanine Pirro, the toughest, smartest D.A. Maybe in our city’s and state’s history, New York. She was really tough, really sharp. Then she did a show and people didn’t think of her quite a same way.”

I’m delighted to be joined by secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who is doing a really good job, I have to tell you that. CMS administrator and a friend of mine, Dr. Oz, who is an amazing guy. I was telling Bobby before, Oz, very successful show but hurt his reputation. When you are in show business it hurts your reputation a little bit. It is good for you, but in terms of professionalism and being a doctor it sort of hurts your reputation. This guy went to the best schools, was the best — top, top, top of the line. Then he did a television show, became a success, made a lot of money, all that stuff. But it sort of hurt him. You know I compare that to — and I hate to say this — but a special woman, Jeanine Pirro. She was the toughest, smartest D.A. Maybe in our city’s and state’s history, New York. She was really tough, really sharp. Then she did a show and people didn’t think of her quite a same way. Became more of an entertainment person like Oz. Oz is not really an entertainer. You know the real story, and she isn’t, either. She is unbelievable. She was one of the strongest district attorneys in the history of New York. Highly respected, very tough. Went after the drug dealers at a level that you don’t see today anymore. And hopefully, she has given up a tremendous — she is leaving the No. 1 show on cable television. One of the number one shows on television period, “The Five,” but they have great people left behind. But she was a big part of it. So I equate her to that. Jeanine Pirro is unbelievable.
Trump made the remarks ahead of his Middle East trip to Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar, whose royal family intends to give Trump a 747 for possible use as Air Force One, free of charge.
