After former President Donald Trump told Fox News that he would be announcing his pick for a running mate on Monday, cars were seen outside the Ohio home of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), one of the names being floated as his pick.
Forbes Breaking News also saw Vance being driven from his home in a motorcade, likely headed to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fox News’ Martha MacCallum made the observation on Twitter/X, and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) posted and then deleted the Forbes video on Twitter/X.

Local outlet WLWT confirmed that Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) ordered the added security about 30 minutes after the assassination attempt on Trump on Saturday.
Vance’s name has been a popular one leading up to Trump’s announcement of a new vice presidential pick. He is also a favorite of Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. Prior to a change of heart, Vance was a critic of Trump, calling him “America’s Hitler” and said that he believed the women who accused Trump of sexual assault over Trump’s word. When he became a candidate for his current seat in the Senate, he expressed his regret over his critical comments, saying in 2021: “Like a lot of people, I criticized Trump back in 2016. And I ask folks not to judge me based on what I said in 2016, because I’ve been very open that I did say those critical things and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the guy. I think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for people, and I think he took a lot of flak.”
