Obama Roasts Trump for 60 Minutes Feud: How Can He Stand Up to Dictators When ‘He Thinks Lesley Stahl is a Bully?’
Former President Barack Obama buried President Donald Trump for his feud with 60 Minutes while speaking at a rally for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris — snarking that Trump could not possibly stand up to dictators if “he thinks Lesley Stahl is a bully.”
Obama first addressed Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, faulting the president for wanting to take away health care from Americans. The Trump hit earned boos from the audience, prompting Obama to invoke the now iconic mantra: “Don’t boo — vote.”
“Joe and Kamala will protect your health care, they will expand medicare, they’ll make insurance affordable for everybody,” he added. “Because Joe knows that a president’s first job is to keep us safe from all threats, foreign, domestic, and microscopic.”
Obama then faulted Trump for failing to do anything when Russia put bounties on United States soldiers in Afghanistan — transitioning to a roast of the president’s questionable relationship with dictators.
“Our current president, he whines that 60 minutes is too tough. Do you think he is gonna stand up to dictators? He thinks Lesley Stahl is a bully,” Obama said. “Just yesterday he said that [Vladimir] Putin of Russia, Xi [Jinping] of China, and Kim Jong-Un of North Korea want him to win. We know! We know because you have been giving them whatever they want for the last four years. Of course they want you to win!”
He then mocked Trump for thinking that those endorsements are something to brag about – asking him what that says about him.
“Joe Biden wouldn’t coddle dictators. He will promote human rights around the world, including in Cuba,” Obama added. “Joe will restore our battered standing around the world because he knows our true strength comes from setting an example that the world wants to follow — a nation that stands with democracy, not dictators.”
