2-Star U.S. Major General Dies in Afghanistan During Attack
An American two-star general was killed today in an attack on an Afghanistan officers’ academy that wounded 15 other soldiers.
The identity of the general remains unknown.
According to ABC News, a gunman wearing an Afghan Army uniform turned his gun on a group of officers, both US and Afghani, training at Camp Qargha in Kabul. Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai confirmed that the attacks had occurred, as did the International Security Assistance Force.
In a statement, the ISAF Joint Command said they were “in the process” of assessing the situation. “More information will be released as we sort out the facts.”
Update- 5:29 pm: He has now been identified as Major General Harold Greene.
