Agents of NFL Players are Worried About a Trump Crackdown on Marijuana: ‘Stay Away…at All Costs’
A new report says that NFL agents are spooked about the possibility that President Donald Trump‘s administration will be tough on marijuana users.
According to Bleacher Report‘s Mike Freeman, agents are advising their players to avoid the drug because of the possibility of a Federal crackdown.
“Stay away from marijuana at all costs,” an unnamed agent told Bleacher Report. “This isn’t about the NFL any longer. This is about the government coming after you.”
A player identified by Bleacher Report as an AFC veteran told the website that he would not be shocked if an example was made of NFL players.
“I don’t think it’s crazy to think that the government would use high-profile athletes to make a statement,” the player said.
This offseason has already seen one high-profile marijuana-related criminal incident. Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam was arrested in Miami Beach on Feb. 26 on felony drug charges including possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
