Alison Parker’s Father Releases Statement Expressing Unbearable Grief
After WDBJ7 contacted Alison Parker‘s family immediately after her tragic murder alongside Adam Ward during a news report, the Washington Post contacted Parker’s father following the confirmation of her death. Andy Parker was initially holding onto hope for her survival, but knew by her lack of contact that she didn’t make it.
“Is this real? Am I going to wake up,” Parker asked in anguish. “I am crying my eyes out. I don’t know if there’s anybody in this world or another father who could be more proud of their daughter.”
Parker was horrified to learn that Vester Flanagan posted POV videos online of him carrying out the deed, which Parker compared to the beheading videos of ISIS. He went on to say that he was shocked that Parker could’ve been killed somewhere that seemed so safe.
“Some journalists want to be right out there covering ISIL. She did not want that,” Parker said. “Not hearing her voice again crushes my soul.”
