Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is reportedly scaling back his role with Pajamas Media after only months as a web television host. According to a report in BuzzFeed, West became involved in an “altercation” with a female staffer and called her a “Jewish American princess.” This reportedly resulted in West and PJ Media’s decision to alter their relationship.
According to an internal announcement distributed on September 16, West will be reducing his work with the website as a full-time host to a “twice-a-month” contributor as a result of his “political interests.”
“In order to focus on political interests, Allen West will transition from his full-time role as director of programming for Next Generation.TV to a twice-a-month contributor of written commentary on PJMedia.com, effective October 1, 2013,” read an announcement from PJ Media financier Aubrey Chernick.
“Shortly, I will be giving up my position as director of programming at Next Generation.TV to get back on the front lines to expand the message of constitutional conservatism across our country,” West wrote in a subsequent message to staff.
But PJ Media staffers told BuzzFeed’s reporters that West was dismissed after he told a female staffer to “shut up” and called her a “Jewish American princess” during an argument.
“No I didn’t get fired,” West told BuzzFeed. “I’m leaving to pursue political aspirations. That’s it. There’ll be a statement that comes out and it’s effective in October.”
