Ashleigh Banfield to Megyn Kelly: Babe’s Aziz Ansari Story Would’ve Been Killed at ‘Our Organizations’
Ashleigh Banfield appeared with Megyn Kelly this morning to discuss fallout over the Aziz Ansari allegations, in which a website posted a semi-anonymous account of a date-gone-wrong with the famous actor and self-professed feminist.
The Ansari story originally appeared on Babe.net, and Banfield has since been feuding with one of their reporters, Katie Way — notably saying that Way’s story “chiseled away” at the #MeToo movement.
The HLN host once again threw some barbs at Way and Babe.net for publishing the story.
“This was launched in a very sloppy and reckless way,” she said. “If her words are true, they did not amount to something that’s actionable, legally actionable.”
Banfield went on to note that reputable news organizations would never have published an account such as the one levied against Ansari.
“We work for reputable organizations. We vet these things so meticulously,” she said. “It would never have seen the light of day in our organizations.”
Kelly attempted to suss out the reasoning behind the alleged victim coming forward with her account — suggesting that the sight of the Golden Globes caused the alleged victim to become disgusted. This after, just several months prior, she claims Ansari was “shoving his fingers” down her throat.
Banfield went right back to slamming Babe.net and the story’s author Katie Way.
“Let’s be clear. We need to consider the source here,” she said, diving into the author’s previous work. “Just a month prior from this organization and this writer was ‘Your drunk food choices and what kind of hoe they make you.'”
Banfield did, however, repeatedly state that she is not “Aziz Ansari’s defender.”
