Ashley Madison Hack May Have Caused Two Suicides
Canadian police are suggesting two alleged suicides may have links to the Ashley Madison hacking scandal, which has already dumped emails, credit card numbers and other bits of personal information belonging to the website’s users online.
Toronto police Staff Superintendent Bryce Evans addressed reporters at a press conference on Monday morning, saying “as of this morning we have two unconfirmed reports of suicides associated to the leak of Ashley Madison customer profiles.”
Evans also noted that several instances of “spin off” crimes are beginning to occur. That is, other hackers and online con artists are advertising services to find and delete leaked personal information from the hacks for Ashley Madison members who fear retribution for being outed.
Neither Evans nor anyone else at the press conference offered any more details about the two supposed suicides and their connection to the hack.
The hacking scandal has already identified disgraced 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar and Christian vlogger Sam Rader as two of the website’s users.
