Baltimore PD Alleges Gangs Partnering Together to ‘Take Out’ Officers
According to CBS News, the Baltimore Police Department claim they have received a “credible” threat that several local gangs have banded together, resolving to “take out” officers.
The department did not provide many details on the alleged threat, but here’s what CBS reported:
According to the department, they have received credible information that various gangs including the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods and Crips have entered into the partnership.
“Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers,” the departments says in a press release.
Baltimore has been wracked with turmoil since 25-year-old Freddie Gray died while in Baltimore PD custody earlier this month. He was arrested for possessing a switch-blade knife and subsequently died from a spinal injury suffered while unrestrained in the back of a police van. As a result, protests have broken out in the city, with resulting police clashes, arrests, and some looting.
Gray’s funeral was held Monday morning at a Baptist church in Baltimore.
