Baltimore Police ID Suspended Officers in Freddie Gray Death Investigation
The Balimore police department has released the names of the six officers who were suspended yesterday, all connected to an investigation into the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray while in police custody.
An autopsy concluded Gray died from a spinal cord injury, and police commissioner Anthony Batts said they do not yet know the circumstances surrounding Gray’s death.
Six officers, however, were suspended, and today the police identified them. Lt. Brian Rice, Officer Garrett Miller, Sgt. Alicia White, Officer William Porter, Officer Edward Nero, and Officer Caesar Goodson were all suspended.
Not much concrete information has been publicly released about each officer’s involvement in Gray’s case, but Rice was one of two officers who reportedly chased Gray down, while Miller wrote the statement saying Gray was “arrested without force or incident.”
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said today, “I am very determined to get to the bottom of this incident and to hold those who need to be held accountable, accountable.”
