Bank Apologizes for ‘Inappropriate’ Use of ‘I Can’t Breathe’
The South African-based banking group Investec raised some eyebrows after using the phrase “I can’t breathe” in a note. The StanChart note reacted to additional regulatory oversight by invoking the last words of Eric Garner:

Upon further reflection, Investec realized it probably wasn’t the best idea to frame regulatory oversight in the same way as a man having his air supply cut off, and they apologized in a statement calling it “inappropriate” and saying, “The content in question does not represent the views of Investec.”
