Meghan McCain’s Husband Demands Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Be Held Accountable For Not Apologizing to Wife

Conservative writer and founder of The Federalist Ben Domenech demanded Monday that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey be held accountable for supposedly lying to Congress about his plans to apologize to his wife Meghan McCain.

Domenech penned a blog post that accused Dorsey of lying under oath when he appeared before Congress in September to testify. Domenech specifically focused on the parts of the hearing when Dorsey was asked why Twitter doesn’t move faster to enforce their rules on abusive content and threats of violence.

Domenech’s wife, Meghan McCain, was targeted by Twitter trolls while she was mourning the death of her father, Senator John McCain. One particularly disgusting photo — which has been scrubbed from Twitter and we will not show here — depicted a gun being pointed at McCain while she stood over her father’s casket.

At the time Domenech was able to eventually get image scrubbed from the internet. But he is now accusing Dorsey of lying to Congress regarding his promise to apologize to him and his wife for the incident.

From Domenech’s post:

Dorsey’s answers equivocated on each point. He lied, blatantly, about the details of the matter – particularly how long the image was up (I have the screencaps to prove that). But there was one particular exchange – published in USA Today and elsewhere – which still sticks in my mind today.

“That was unacceptable,” Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey told members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. “We did take way too many hours to act.”

“Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, asked Dorsey if he’s apologized to the McCain family.

“I haven’t personally, but I will,” he said. He said that under oath.

Jack Dorsey has never contacted my wife or me to apologize

Domenech goes on to accuse Dorsey of lying with regard to Twitter’s ban of right wing pundit Jesse Kelly. It remains unclear what Kelly said that prompted the ban, and has therefore sparked a backlash.
