Bender from Futurama Triggered a Panic at CT Train Station

Bender, everyone’s favorite wise-cracking robot from Futurama, caused a bit of a panic at a Connecticut train station and the subsequent alert shut down all train service on Metro-North.

Now, you’re probably wondering why Bender’s involved in this, chief concern being that Bender is a fictional character. Well, some enterprising young student made a school project that he took with him to the Fairfield train station. Police saw the school project, momentarily left there unguarded, and assumed the worst.

Here’s the project in question:

Police brought in the bomb squad and were inspecting the device for roughly two hours before determining it was not a bomb, just a school project.

Hey, remember that time when that weird Aqua Teen Hunger Force character triggered a huge bomb scare in Boston? I never thought I’d say this, but maybe cops should be watching more TV.
