Biden Warns: Obama Will Do an ‘Awful Lot’ on Immigration Reform Before New Year
Vice President Joe Biden turned up the heat on immigration reform rhetoric Monday, warning that the Obama administration will do “an awful lot” on its own if Congress does not act before the end of the year.
Biden made the comment while speaking at reception honoring Hispanic Heritage Month in Washington, D.C. He said immigration reform was needed now and that if Congress does “get it done” before the end of the year, “the president’s going to do it, and he’s going to do an awful lot.”
President Barack Obama has previously said that he would take any unilateral action on immigration reform that he legally can after the November midterm elections.
A bill to reform immigration passed the Senate in 2013 but was blocked by Republican leadership in the House.
