Capitol Police Must Undergo Potty Training After Repeatedly Leaving Guns in Bathrooms
Prepare yourself for the most seriously juvenile news bulletin of the day: Thanks to a recent Capitol Hill scandal involving bathrooms and guns, the Capitol Hill police have been forced to undergo toilet training.
The mandatory training was mentioned during a Congressional hearing looking into the security force’s habit of leaving unsecured guns in public bathrooms throughout the Capitol Hill complex, guns that were once found by a child. According to Fox News, the following words were uttered by a high-ranking police officer:
“We are now providing additional training on what to do when you have to go the bathroom,” U.S. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine told the House Administration Committee as it studied the spate of incidents in the loo.
Pfffffffffft.
But while Dine told the Committee that his officers were undergoing rigorous toilet protocol training, he did add that two of the offenders — both in high-profile assignments to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) — were permitted to return to those assignments. “It sets bad precedent,” Rep. Rich Nugent (R-FL) pointed out. “You don’t give confidence to the people you’re protecting or the guys on the street or others in the department.”
(As a footnote, someone at Fox clearly had fun with this one: “Many lawmakers only became privy to the mistakes after they were first reported in the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call. Naturally, the information was leaked.”)
