Chattanooga Shooter’s Father Was Once Reportedly Investigated for Terror Ties
Lots of information has come out today about Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, the man suspected of opening fire at two military facilities and killing four Marines, and there are a few details also coming out about his family.
The New York Times has a profile out today about Abdulazeez, his family, and what he was like growing up in Tennessee.
Towards the end of the article, there’s a paragraph about how his father was once scrutinized for ties to terrorism:
Mr. Abdulazeez was not under investigation by the F.B.I. before the shooting, according to a source in the agency. But a law enforcement official said that his father had been investigated years ago for contributing money to an organization that may have had ties to terrorists. The investigation did not result in charges, the official said.
Earlier today, a SWAT team approached a residence believed to be Abdulazeez’s home and took away multiple women in handcuffs. It’s not known who they are or why they were handcuffed.
