New Jersey governor Chris Christie has been pilloried left and right for two days now over what’s being dubbed “Bridgegate,” but there’s one person who’s standing hand in hand with the governor. Someone who says that he unapologetically believes Christie is telling the truth: Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq was perhaps the most high-profile person to endorse Christie in his reelection last year, so when TMZ called him up to ask him for his take on the scandal (which is a perfectly TMZ thing to do), Shaq stood by the governor.
Even faced with points about the “hubris” and possible culture of corruption in Christie’s office, Shaq argued, “When you have a lot of employees, it’s kind of very difficult to police everybody.” He said that Christie’s not a “micromanager,” and repeatedly said, “I believe him.”
(By the way, in case you were about to make any Dennis Rodman jokes, you should know even Shaq agrees it’s ridiculous too.)
