Chris Hayes Tears Apart Hoax That Says Clinton Called Certain Races ‘Never-Do-Wells’
Tonight, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes had some strong words for people who disseminated false information about Hillary Clinton before the election. Some of the strongest words came when he condemned “the weaponized use of disinformation online.”
Like CNN’s Brian Stelter, he crusaded against “fake news” as he tore apart the claim that an email purportedly from Hillary Clinton observed that some races, like the Chinese, will always be successful while others, like black people, will fail no matter where they are. A number of fake news sires ran with that email, which does exist and was found in John Podesta‘s hacked correspondence… because it was sent to him by a racist who had absolutely nothing to do with the campaign beyond knowing some of its staffers’ email addresses. Watch:
Alt-right & bogus news sites ran posts about a Wikileaks “bombshell” …that turned out to be spam. #inners https://t.co/dXVzwR7QLO

He mentioned that Facebook was one of the places most overrun by the fake news, which others have noted in the last few days. Some have even gone so far as to blame Facebook for the way the election turned out.
Watch above to see how quickly facts can get twisted and repackaged into very, very misleading headlines.
