Clinton Campaign Lets NH Business Owner Takeover Twitter Account
For the rest of Thursday tweets from @HillaryClinton will seem a bit off, at least by the tepid metrics of presidential campaigns. That’s because they’ll actually be coming from Mary Jo Brown, a graphic web designer from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who has been given the account for the day by the Clinton team.
A Clinton campaign official said Brown was chosen to operate @HillaryClinton account for the day because her experiences coincide with Clinton’s focus this week on small businesses as a key part of her economic agenda. She talked about small businesses in first-caucus state Iowa earlier this week, where she told one owner, “I want to be the small business president.”
…Brown will provide, via Clinton’s Twitter account, “a window into the life of a small business owner,” the campaign official said, describing idea as a ‘first-of-its kind’ campaign Twitter takeover.”
Brown’s off to a fetching start:
Hi there! I’m Mary Jo—a mom, small business owner, and Granite Stater—and I’m taking over this Twitter account today. Welcome to Portsmouth!

Rumors that this just emphasizes the inherent inauthenticity of the political Twitter account went unretweeted at press time.
