Stephen Colbert is taking President Trump‘s “Dishonest Media” Awards very seriously.
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted that he was announcing “THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR” next week. And it appears Colbert wants in.
“Personally, I’m excited for ;The Most Dishonest and Corrupt Media Awards of the Year,’ or as we call them in the biz, “The Fakies,” Colbert said. “Because nothing gives you more credibility than Donald Trump calling you a liar. And I, of course, don’t want to get snubbed.”
Colbert told his audience that he had bought a billboard in Time Square, or “The Failing New York Time Square” and a full-page ad on Twitter launching a “For Your Consideration” campaign, something often used in Hollywood to promote films and TV shows during awards season.
In the ad, Colbert says he wants to be considered in all categories, including:
- Outstanding Achievement in Parroting George Soros‘ Talking Points
- Best Sound Mixing
- Best Chex Mixing
- Least Breitbarty
- The Eric Trump Memorial Award For Disappointment
- Fakest Dishonesty
- Corruptest Fakeness
- Dishonestest Corruption
- Smallest Button
Here’s the ad Colbert placed on Twitter.
