Colbert Mocks Don Jr. For Urging VA To Vote The Day After The Election: ‘#TurnsOutEricIsTheSmartOne’
On Tuesday night, Stephen Colbert had some fun at the expense of Donald Trump Jr. for weighing in on the Virginia gubernatorial race.
Early this morning, the president’s eldest son took to Twitter to urge Republicans to vote for Ed Gillespie (who ultimately lost to Democrat Ralph Northam).
Let’s take @EdWGillespie across the finish line tomorrow! Virginia: get out and vote for Ed & entire @GOP ticket #VAGov #VA

There’s just one problem: the election was taking place today and not tomorrow.
“#WhoopsieDaisy #TurnsOutEricIsTheSmartOne,” Colbert quipped.
The Late Show host ripped Don Jr. for following up that tweet with another implying that the election tomorrow and then botched the following tweet by telling people to “get out and vote tody” instead of “today.”
“I don’t know who Tody is… but you should really vote for him.” Colbert reacted.
