Comedian-Musician Releases Song Imploring Potential Suitors to ‘Be My Rachel Maddow’
Comedian and musician Lane Moore has released a song about her love for Rachel Maddow.
Well, she’s released a song about hoping she can find someone to love who reminds her of Maddow at the very least.
“Don’t care if you’re a girl or a guy; you could look a little like her,” Moore sings. “Just want to hear your political opinions and ride off into the night. Be my Rachel Maddow, be my Rachel Maddow…”
The song even gets a little timely when Moore croons, “There’s so many things I would like to tell you but I can’t find the words. We could could spend the weekends with you, analyzing tax returns.”
In case you don’t get it, just last Tuesday, Maddow made major headlines by teasing that she had gotten ahold of Donald Trump‘s tax returns ahead of her nightly broadcast. When viewers tuned in, continuing a trend of increasingly strong ratings for the MSNBC host, they found that she had gotten his 2005 returns, which only led to more headlines.
Moore told Mediaite that she started writing the song last Friday after the hook popped into her head. Moreover, she said this:
I just wanted to make something sweet and catchy and fun because it’s 2017 and we need more of that. I also liked the idea that your own personal Rachel Maddow could be a man or a woman or anywhere in between because it’s more about the idea of wanting to be with someone super smart, funny, and capable, who also happens to look really A+ in menswear.
