Critics and Supporters Alike Pounce on Joe Biden’s ‘President Harris’ Slip

President Joe Biden set social media ablaze when he inadvertently referred to Vide President Kamala Harris as “President Harris” during a speech, causing the phrase to become a top Twitter trend.

During a speech to commemorate the 100 millionth vaccine shot, the president said “Now, when President Harris and I took a virtual tour of a vaccination center in Arizona not long ago, one of the nurses on that tour — injecting people, giving vaccinations, said that each shot was like administering a dose of hope,” which, as one Twitter user noted, constitutes a “significant promotion” for the VP.

Critics were quick to notice, and even quicker to read into it. Conservative media and political figures used the miscue to smear Biden’s health, and insist with varying degrees of seriousness that the VP is the one who’s really running the country.

But there were supporters of Biden and Harris who appreciated the moment, and took it as a compliment of the veep.

The episode even earned the Snopes treatment, as the debunker verified that President Biden did, indeed, say “President Harris” but did not “forget he’s president.”
