Dolezal Violated Ethics Rules; Mayor Calls on Her to Step Down from City Commission
A Spokane city investigation into Rachel Dolezal––the now-former NAACP leader under national scrutiny for changing her racial identity––concluded that Dolezal violated ethics rules in her position as head of a city police oversight commission.
According to KREM, an anonymous city employee complained that Dolezal and two other members of the commission acted in a “rude” manner towards her. The city report concluded there was a pattern of harassment in how Dolezal and two other members of the commission kept micromanaging her and saying they gave her contradictory orders.
They also reportedly demonstrated anti-police bias and made decisions about commission agenda items outside of meetings.
Both City Council President Ben Stuckart and Spokane Mayor David Condon have called on Dolezal and the other two to resign.
They said, “We are deeply disturbed by the facts contained in the report of findings from the independent investigator. The conduct is unacceptable and falls far short of the community’s expectations of volunteers who sit on City boards and commissions.”
