eHarmony Reels in Election-Weary Singles by Promising ‘Light’ in Dark Political Times

The commercials that air on cable news are really weird sometimes. That is one of the key things that anyone who has ever worked at Mediaite learned within the first week. Just like the news segments, these commercials can marry two very dissimilar ideas and try to pass the non-sequitur off as a coherent sort of thought. eHarmony gave it a shot this month when they released a new commercial:

Are you lonely? Do you think this election is exhausting? If you answered yes to both of those questions, go to eHarmony right now to find something “simple and deep,” as Dr. Neil Clark Warren put it.

He explained that at eHarmony, they “believe that love between two people gives life its deepest meaning and want to be “a light in this world.”

How this relates to politics is still a little fuzzy, but if you meet the love of your life, you probably won’t care anyway.
