Ex-Trump Aide Tells Jim Acosta People Attacked Her For Being ‘Horrified’ By Charlie Kirk Shooting
Trump White House official-turned-NeverTrumper Olivia Troye complained to Substack host Jim Acosta that she was attacked for expressing horror at the shooting of Charlie Kirk.
The political and media world was stunned when news broke on Wednesday afternoon that Kirk had been shot during an event at Utah Valley University by a shooter who remains at large.
Minutes after the shooting — and hours before news broke that Kirk died from the injuries he sustained in that shooting — Troye joined Acosta and Jan. 6 cop Harry Dunn on a hastily-organized episode of The Jim Acosta Show.
All three were shocked and dismayed by the news, which was still unfolding. When a visibly shaken Troye joined the discussion, she scolded people she says went after her for saying so on social media:
JIM ACOSTA: It doesn’t look good. I know and it’s terrible man. Yeah, Olivia Troye is here too. Olivia. Hey, how you doing? Good to see you
OLIVIA TROYE: Hi.
JIM ACOSTA: Thanks for coming on. I mean, your thoughts as we’re watching this unfold, apparently we’re now learning from the Associated Press that Charlie Kirk is in critical condition. And when you see the video, you can–.
OLIVIA TROYE: No, it was awful. It was horrific watching it. Judging from the way it looked, I was extremely worried about it and worried for the people in attendance.
And I just keep thinking about this family.
And obviously, I posted about this on socials, coming from a conservative background and knowing a lot of these individuals personally.
And it’s, um, It’s never okay, regardless of what side it is coming from. And I think that we need to really get to a better moment in our society. I don’t appreciate some of the attacks I’m getting for expressing how horrified I am about what has happened to Charlie.
JIM ACOSTA: I put out a post too. I said, I put up, “I hope he’s okay.” I genuinely do.
OLIVIA TROYE: We never want something like this to happen. And I caught a little bit of what you guys were saying.
I mean, we should be able to advocate for our political beliefs. We should be be able to attend events and feel safe without a situation like this developing.
And we’ve seen political violence happen against many individuals and we don’t really know all the details on this, but I think we are in a period where I think this type of violence is gonna continue to increase.
We’ve seen it. It has been on the rise in the past couple of years, and I hope that there are resources that will be used here domestically by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies that will actually do something to track the ongoing violence, the rise of it, because I do think that we have we have an increasing problem in this country.
