Fox Host and Panelists Take Turns Blasting Gawker: ‘Not a Reputable Journalistic Outfit’

Screen Shot 2016-05-26 at 10.53.54 AMFox Business has been looking into the revelation that Paypal’s Peter Thiel bankrolled Hulk Hogan‘s legal battles against Gawker, and Varney & Company host Stuart Varney gleefully led his Thursday panel as they sunk their teeth into the beleaguered gossip site.

Gawker already has a negative history with Fox in general, as the site has written unflattering pieces about Bill O’Reilly‘s divorce, Roger Ailes‘ business activities, and other stories on the network. Hogan recently won a major lawsuit against Gawker for their publishing of his sex tape, and Varney, Liz MacDonald, and Deirdre Bolton all gave their approval to Thiel’s fight against the site.

“He is using his financial muscle to beat somebody up using the legal system,” Varney said as he explained the legality of Thiel’s actions. “I haven’t heard a good word about Gawker from anybody.”

MacDonald followed up, saying Gawker is “not a reputable journalistic outfit” and blasting the nature of their articles.

“They do hit and run pieces about getting quotes form the other side,” MacDonald said. “They are not fair and balanced, there is no credibility.”
