Gawker Editor John Cook Joins Greenwald, Scahill at First Look Media

John Cook, who took over as editor for Gawker last year from A.J. Daulerio is reportedly leaving to site to join First Look Media, the new journalism project from eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. Cook will join Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill along with more recent addition Matt Taibbi, who left Rolling Stone for the site last month.

According to Re/code’s Peter Kafka, Gawker’s staff was informed of the change on Monday and deputy editor Max Read is expected to take over as editor of the site.

Cook will serve as the editor-in-chief for The Intercept, the company’s digital magazine, according to POLITICO’s Hadas Gold.
