This is the second time Zimmerman has been released on bond. He was called back after it was discovered that he and his wife had offered false testimony concerning the state of their finances, neglecting to note an account with donations solicited online. Nevertheless, Zimmerman has once again turned to the internet for help paying his legal defense fees.
Earlier, Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, issued a statement online, writing that “Since the $1,000,000 bond was made public on July 5, supporters have donated approximately $20,000. In the two months prior to the Court’s Order Setting Bail, the George Zimmerman Defense Fund had received approximately $55,000.”
