GOP Rep on Trump: ‘I Have Concerns About Giving That Guy an Army’

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 11.21.30 AMGOP Congressman Chris Gibson — a decorated veteran who served 29 years in the US Army — told radio host Bill Samuels Sunday that he has “concerns” about making Republican candidate Donald Trump Commander-in-Chief.

“Look, I mean, he is running for President of the United States under this banner, the party that I’m in,” Gibson said on Effective Radio with Bill Samuels. “I have told people before I’m prayerful that you will see some kind of evolution in this guy.”

Gibson conceded he’s “hesitating” in supporting Trump. “I need to give you a serious answer,” Gibson continued. “Here’s the issue: I have concerns about giving this guy an ARMY. As somebody who served for 29 years, I have concerns given what I’ve heard today about his temperament and the judgement that he has.”

“I also understand what’s driving this,” Gibson added, insisting he “saw this coming.”

“Even with the approach that I take in Congress, which is to bring people together to get things done — many people describe that as ‘reasonable’ — I couldn’t vote for John Boehner‘s re-elect.”

Gibson said he one of the “very few” in the Republican party who approached the former Speaker of the House to voice concerns  over the growing “alienation” in the Republican party. “We have to face those facts straight on with straight talk,” Gibson concluded.
