GOP Senator: Indiana Religious Freedom Law Is Un-American ‘Bigotry’

There haven’t been many Republicans speaking out against the controversial religious freedom law in Indiana (that’s already become an issue in at least one other state), but Illinois Senator Mark Kirk has come out swinging against the legislation in a statement out tonight.

His statement is brief and to-the-point:

“I strongly oppose what Governor Pence did. We should not enshrine bigotry under the cover of religion. It’s not just bad practice – it’s un-American.”

Two years ago, Kirk became the second Republican senator to publicly come out in favor of gay marriage.
